It’s time for another weekly roundup. It appears that Joe Biden’s inauguration went off without much noise, considering the buildup beforehand and worries around security.
There actually seems to be more chatter in the days afterwards in regards to Canada U.S. relations. Not shortly after taking his position, Biden has made it clear that his administration does not support the new Keystone XL expansion, which had already been approved. This creates issues for Canadian jobs, investment dollars, and TC Energy, which has already outlaid billions of dollars towards the project.
It will be interesting to see how future trade relations are affected going forward by this move.
Now onto the weekly reads…
Why 4 Websites Give You 4 Different Credit Scores | CBC Marketplace
My latest article explains How to Get your Credit Score for Free – but also investigated the subject of why your credit score may be vastly different depending on the source. This is a rather fascinating article from CBC Marketplace, confirming just that. Three individuals all got their credit scores from various sources and similarly had variations amongst the scores, sometimes quite a substantial amount.
Canadian Dividend All-Stars 2021 | MoneySense
MoneySense has released its annual Dividend All-Stars list for 2021. The tradition of ranking and evaluating the largest and best traded Canadian dividend stocks continues, using the metrics of Yield, Stability and Value. Interestingly enough, energy companies have left the mix, including one of my previous picks (Methanex) as the sector continues to struggle. If you are looking to purchase Canadian stocks that will provide you with (hopefully) steady and predictable income at reasonable valuations, these ranked picks may be some of your best bets! As always, however, do your own due diligence when purchasing securities and consult with a professional to ensure your investment choices suit your situation and risk tolerance
